What to do while you wait

Paper-II is a descriptive translation paper, so start practice now rather than after the result. Use your saved response sheet to estimate your Paper-I score, since SSC does not reopen the answer key once the window closes.

How to check the result when it comes

  1. Watch the SSC notice board for the CHT 2026 Paper-I result notice.
  2. Open the result PDF and search your roll number.
  3. If listed, log in with your registration number and password for the Paper-II city slip and admit card.

Syllabus and exam pattern

Paper-I (CBE) General Hindi 100 and General English 100 questions, 1 mark each, 2 hours with a 1 hour timer per part, 0.25 negative
Paper-II (written) Translation and Essay, 200 marks, 2 hours: one Hindi to English and one English to Hindi passage, an essay in each language
Final merit 50% of the Paper-I score plus 100% of the Paper-II marks

Because Paper-I is counted at half, it can add at most 100 to the merit while Paper-II adds up to 200. So two thirds of the final merit comes from the descriptive translation and essay paper. Paper-I tests degree level language and literature, correct use of words, phrases and idioms in both languages. In Paper-II, writing your name or any identity inside the answer book gets zero marks.

Paper-I (computer based)

  • General Hindi and General English: Questions test understanding of the two languages and their literature, correct use of words, phrases and idioms, and the ability to write the languages correctly, precisely and effectively. Questions are of degree level

Paper-II (Translation and Essay, descriptive)

  • Translation: One passage from Hindi to English and one passage from English to Hindi
  • Essay: One essay in Hindi and one in English, testing the ability to write and understand both languages correctly, precisely and effectively
  • Level: Consistent with the educational qualifications prescribed for the posts
